Super League: Holders Dhaka Abahani take solo lead

Defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited took solo lead in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League beating their close contenders Prime Doleshwar SC by seven wickets with 81 balls remaining in their 3rd super league match at BKSP ground 3 in Savar on Tuesday.
After the day’s round, Dhaka Abahani Limited topped the league table for the first time securing 22 points from 14 encounters while Prime Doleshwar SC followed the leaders with 20 points from 14 matches.
Earlier, three teams— Abahani Limited, Prime Doleshwar and Gazi Group Cricketers-jointly topped the league table securing 20 point each from 13 matches.
Sent into bat first in the day’s match, last years runners-up Prime Doleshwar SC scored 189 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs with two down Marshall Ayub contributing 57 runs off 83 balls with a boundary.
Opener Imtiaz Ahmed (27), Sharifullah (22), Shahriar Nafees (20), Eanmul Haque Jr (19) Farhad Reza ( (13) and Indian Rajat Bhatia (11) were the other main scorers for Prime Doleshwar reaching the double figures.
Abu Jayed grabbed three wickets for 42 runs while Manan Sharma and Mohammad Saifuddin took two wickets each conceding 30 and 31 runs respectively.
In reply, Dhaka Abahani Limited easily reached their target scoring 193 for runs for the loss of three wickets in only 37 overs, featuring 132 runs in the 2nd wicket stand by Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan.
After the departure of opener Liton Das (9) for 20 runs in 5.3 overs, another opener Shadman Islam pairing with one down Saif Hassan guided the team’s to score 152 runs from 20.
One down Saif Hassan hammered a polished 80 runs off 97 deliveries hitting nine fours and two sixes and was adjudged man of the match while Shadman Islam scored 78-ball 65 runs with help of four boundaries and one over boundary.
Besides, Nazmul Hossain Shanta and Mohammad Mithun remained not out on 18 runs each.
Habibur Rahman claimed two wickets for 66 runs while Enamul Haque Jr took one for 36 runs.
