Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and front organizations observed the historic March 7, a Red-letter day in the history of the Bangalees’ long arduous freedom struggle, in a befitting manner with fresh vow to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Different other political parties, social, cultural and professional bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
The day’s programmes began with the hoisting of national and party flags atop the party office buildings and placing wreaths at the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four other national leaders in the morning. Former Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation and Awami League City President Bodoruddin Ahmed Kamran joined the programmes.
Marking the day, most of the city offices of the party played March 7 speech of Bangabandhu throughout the day alongside holding of discussions.
AL City unit held discussion at its office this noon highlighting
significance of the historic speech with its President Bodoruddin Ahmed Kamran in the chair. Front ranking leaders of the unit spoke at the discussion.
Discussants said the tantalizing speech of Bangabandhu literally had a sparkling effect on the entire population in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, and they became united under his capable and farsighted leadership to bravely fight for liberating the motherland from Pakistani rule.

AL President of Gouripur upazila unit, Freedom Fighter Alhajj Dr. Capt. (Retd.) Mujibur Rahman Fakir MP, former State Minister for Health & Family Welfare called upon the party’s people to observe the historic March 7 with the cooperation of pro-liberation forces.
Besides, different associate organisations of the party, including Awami Jubo League, Mohila Awami League, Krishak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sramik League and various other socio-cultural bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
BSS from Khulna adds: The historic 7th March, a red letter day in the history of the Bangalees’ long arduous freedom struggle, was observed in Khulna on Monday in a befitting manner amid much enthusiasm.
On this day in 1971, great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman delivered his epoch-making speech of independence at the Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Uddan, in Dhaka.
To observe the day, Khulna City and District Unit Awami League chalked out elaborate programmes.
The day was begun through hoisting of National and Party flag atop the AL office at around 7.00am. Leaders and activists of AL and its front organizations placed floral wreath on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman.
The recorded historic speech of Bangabandhu was played at all wards, thana offices in the city and district.
A discussion was held at the party office with AL city unit general secretary Mizanur Rahman in the chair.
Among others, District Unit AL President Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, AL leader advocate Chisty Sohrab Hossain, advocate Sarder Rajob Ali, Mahbub Alam Sohag, Md. A Babul Rana, spoke at the programme.
The speakers discussed about the importance of the day in building an independent and prosperous Bangladesh.
