Hindu community celebrates Janmastami

 Members of the Hindu Community celebrated Janmastami, one of their major religious festivals, marking the holy birth anniversary of the Lord Sri Krishna in the port city as elsewhere in the district with due festivity and religious fervour.
Chittagong Janmastami Udjapon Parishad (CJUP) brought out a grand procession, which begins from J M Sen hall premises at Andarkilla Crossing at 11:30 am and culminate at the same place after parading important streets of the city.
Lord Krishna was born on the eighth tithi of Shukla Paksha (fortnight of the new moon) in Bangla month of Bhadra and he takes birth in ages in the world to safeguard the good and pious people from the hands of sinister forces to establish truth, justice and beauty in society.
The members of the Hindu Community brings out a grand jubilant
procession displaying the sportive events on the life of Krishna on the first day of four-day long Janmastami function in the city. Thousands of people irrespective of ages, colour, cast and creed will attend the procession.
The four day long programmes also include illumination of temples, arranging discussion meeting and distribution of sweets, holding Rishi and Boisnab conference, recitation from the holy books (Pabitra Namkirtan), exhibition, scholarship handover among meritorious students and distribution of Prashad, fasting, offering puja, special prayers and recitation from the holy Geeta and feeding to destitute. CMP and district police have taken up adequate security measures to celebrate the festival peacefully.
A correspondent from Raozan adds: Hindu Community in Raozan upazila of Chittagtong celebrated Janmastami, one of their major religious festivals, marking the holy birth anniversary of the Lord Sri Krishna in Raozan as elsewhere in the district with due festivity and religious fervour.. On the occasion of the great hindu religious festival, a discussion meeting was arranged at Upazila presmises yesterday morning with Mr. Chandain Biswar in the chair.
Assistance High Commissioner of India, in Chittagong Subashish Sinha graced the discussion meet as chief guest. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railway ABM Fazle Karim chowdhury MP inaugurated the discussions and delivered address of welcome in it. Among others, Upazila chairman Ehsanul Hoque CHOWDHURy Babul, Raozan AL president Kamaluddin, UNO Shamim Hossain Reza, AC Land Jonaid Kabir sohag, Panel Mayor Basiruddin Khan, councilor Jamiruddin Parvez, Priyotosh Chowdhury , Chairman of Chikdair UP, Prakash shil,Sumon Dey, Melcom chakraborty, Pradip shil of Puja udjapon parishad of Raozan spoke on the occasion. Religious leader o Hindu community Sajala Nanda Giri Moharaz also spoke in it.
 A grand religious rally followed by discussion meeting brought from the venue of upazila square which terminated at Raj Bihari Mandir parading through Jalilnagar , Upazila bazar , our Raozan correspondent Mir Aslam sources said.
