On the occasion of marking 67th birth anniversary of noted writer, novelist,
playwright and filmmaker late Humayun Ahmed, a daylong fair dedicated
to Humayun’s
fan-favourite character Himu was held on the
premises of Channel i in the city’s Tejgaon area recently.
Himu Mela, organised jointly by the channel and AB Bank, featured a host of events as well as
point-of-sale displays
of books and CDs.
It opened with an inaugural ceremony attended by Faridur Reza Sagor,
Managing Director of Channel i, Humayun’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon, Tarana Halim, State Minister for Post,Telecommunications and Information Technology, and actors Syed Hasan Imam and Keramat Mawla.
A number of stalls were set up to showcase Humayun’s books and CDs of his films and teleplays, while painters Abdul Mannan, Tanim Khan, Sohana Nasrin and a group of child artists painted images of the writer-
director.
Impress Audio Vision launched an album on the occasion. The album, Annyo Humayun, contains seven songs penned by him.
A poster of Shaon’s
upcoming film Krishnopakkha, based on a story by her late husband, was also revealed on the occasion. The film stars Reaz and Mahiya Mahi
in lead roles.
The fair also featured music, dance and poetry recitations by artistes
including
Sadi Muhammad, Kiran Chandra Roy, Rathindranath Roy, Khurshid Alam,
Selim Chowdhury and Jayanta Chattapaddhay. n
