Hili Port users on strike to realise demands

Trade between India and Bangladesh through Hili Land Port has been remain suspended for the second consecutive day on Thursday as the land port users started an indefinite strike on Thursday demanding realization of 3- point demands and protesting alleged of BGB members.
The 3 -point demands include stop checking documents at zero line, checking of goods at BGB check post by BGB.
Five associations of Hili Land Port including C & F Agent Association, Customs Association, Truck Operators Association, Truck Driver Association and Kuli (Load and unload workers) Federation jointly called the indefinite strike.
The strike already affected the daily earning of around 3,000 workers as even load and unloading also remained suspended. And around 500 goods loaded trucks got stranded inside Indian territory as the trucks are not allowing to come in Bangladesh through Hili land port due to the strike.
According to the custom official, the strike causing losses revenue earning of Tata 1 crore each day.
On Thursday, leaders and members of these five associations of Hili land port under Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur formed a human chain in front of Customs office at port area.
