High Court gets 11 new addl judges

A total of eleven Additional Judges were appointed in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday raising the number to 95.
President Md Abdul Hamid gave the appointment for two years in line with the Article 98 of the Constitution, a notification of the Law Ministry said.
Among the new Additional Judges, five are from Judicial Service and six are from Advocates of the Supreme Court and Deputy Attorney Generals.
The new HC judges are Md Shawkat Ali Chowdhury, District and Sessions Judge (now on PRL); Md Atabullah, District and Sessions Judge of Cumilla; Bishwajit Debnath, Deputy Attorney General; Md Aminul Islam, Deputy Attorney General and Md Ali Reza, Advocate of the Supreme Court.
The list also included the names of Md Bazlur Rahman, Register General of Bangladesh Supreme Court; KM Imrul Kayesh, Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka; Fahmida Kader, District and Sessions Judge of Tangail; Md Bashir Ullah, Deputy Attorney General; SM Masud Hossain Dolon, Advocate of the Supreme Court and AKM Rabiul Hasan, also an Advocate of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, the new judges took their oath on Sunday afternoon. Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique administered the oath at 4:30 pm in the Supreme Court judges lounge. The oath ceremony was conducted by the Registrar of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court Md Golam Rabbani.
Judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court, Attorney General, President and Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and some other officials and lawyers of the Supreme Court were present at the program.
