Those who attacked with helmets on their heads during clashes between the traders & employees and the students in the capital’s New Market were terrorists, claimed Mahbub Alam, Joint Commissioner of the metropolitan Detective police.
He said all those who took part in the attack wearing helmets were terrorists. They will be brought to justice. He was responding to a question from reporters at a press conference in the DMP Media Center on Wednesday (April 27).
Mentioning that the helmet holders will be arrested as terrorists, not for political reasons, they have already been identified and operation is being carried out to arrest them, Mahbub Alam said.
The Joint Commissioner added that the killers of
Mursalin, a shop worker in the New Market area, had not yet been identified. He died of a brick blow. Attempts are being made to identify the killer from those who threw brickbats.
Besides, after examining the video footage of Nahid’s murder, the work of identifying the killer has come a long way. An operation is being carried out to arrest the accused. Regarding the delay in arrest, he said that many people have gone home or are in hiding as the hostel of Dhaka College had been closed. However, multiple teams of DB are trying to arrest them.
Earlier, on April 21, four separate cases were filed in connection with the clashes between the Dhaka College students and the traders in the capital’s New Market area that left two persons dead and over 70 injured.
Around 1,400 people have been made accused in the several cases.
