A heatwave sweeping across the country for the last couple of days made public life miserable in Sylhet city and elsewhere in the country.
The high temperature that soars up over the last few days is aggravating the plight of the commoners.
However, the heat wave might continue for two more days, says Met office.
People are feeling 3 to 4 degrees Celsius more heat than the recorded temperature because of creation of a trap on cooling system in the environment due to higher humidity, said, a weatherman of Sylhet Meteorological Department.
The difference between night and day temperature is 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. Because of the phenomenon, the overall temperature is being felt much higher, he said.
Amid the stifling summertime temperatures, the city dwellers opted to stay indoors during daytime. The weathermen suggested avoiding sunbeams and using proper protection like sunglasses, umbrella and cap while going out in the heat of the day.
The scorching heat of the subtropical climate, which started last month, has been affecting the vast swathes of the country, resulting in heat-related sickness and prompting people to get admitted into hospitals.
Physicians suggest people for drinking plenty of fluids and remain cautious about taking food to prevent heat-related sickness.
