Hearing on Niko graft case now on Feb 28

The Ninth Special Judge Court of Dhaka on Thursday deferred the charge hearing in the Niko graft case filed against 11 persons including Begum Khaleda Zia to February 28, following a petition of the former premier, that sought more time. Judge Md Aminul Islam of the court passed the order responding to the time petition.
Police in a drive detained 28 suspected women activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami from a house in the city’s Adabar area on Thursday afternoon.
Biplob Kumar Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said that a team of police raided a building on the Tajmohal Road under Adabar thana around 2:30pm and arrested them from the second floor of the building.”
Police recovered huge leaflets, books, membership forms and other papers of Jamaat-e-Islami from their possession, the police official said.
They were detained while holding a clandestine meeting, the DC said, adding that they are being interrogated about their motive of the secret meeting, he said.
“We are examining the various links with the meeting. Filing of a case is under process”, the police official said.
