The High Court Division of the Supreme Court yesterday adjourned till July 2 the hearing on a writ petition filed by BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed
challenging the legality of his eviction from a Gulshan residence. A High Court Bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order.
Moudud Ahmed prayed to the High Court to pass an order declaring the eviction illegal. The writ petition further said there was no notice from RAJUK before evicting him from the house and the RAJUK team could not show him any paper in support of their action. Besides, the full copy of the concerned verdict has not yet been published.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon filed the writ petition on behalf of Moudud Ahmed. On Wednesday, Rajdhahi Unnayan Kartripakkha took over Moudud Ahmed’s Gulshan house following a court order. The utility services like gas, water and electricity of the house were disconnected while its valuables and furniture were removed.
On June 4, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court dismissed two petitions filed by Moudud seeking a review against the same court’s verdict that scrapped Moudud Ahmed’s possession of a house on Holding No 159 in Gulshan-2 of the city.
One of the review petitions was filed by Moudud’s brother Manjur Ahmed and another was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The Appellate Division released the full text of its verdict that scrapped the possession of a house on August 2, 2016. Later, Moudud filed the review petition.
