Arson case: Hearing on charge framing against Fakhrul, others deferred

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday deferred the hearing on charge framing against 26
BNP men including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir till October 26 in a sabotage case. Magistrate Mohammad Yunus Khan of the CMM Court passed the order in response to a time petition submitted on behalf of the defence.
On March 2, 2013, Paltan Police Station SI Mehedi Moksud filed the case on charges of vandalism and setting fire to vehicles during the hartal (Shutdown) sponsored by the BNP-led 20- party alliance.
Later, on March 26 of the year, SI Aminul Islam, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case submitted the charge-sheet of the case against 26 leaders and activists including Mirza Fakhrul to the court.
