Arson cases: Hearing on charge framing against Fakhrul, 26 others June 8

A Dhaka court on Tuesday fixed June 8 for hearing on framing charge against BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 26 other leaders and activists of the party in three separate arson cases filed with Paltan and Shahjahanpur Police Stations in the capital.
Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed the date after hearing on the time petitions.
Several accused, including senior BNP Standing
Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Schechchhasebak Dal President Habib-Un Nabi Khan Sohel, who are now behind the bar, were not produced to the court.
BNP Joint Secretary General Abdullah Al Noman, Juba Dal President Moazzem Hossain Alal and Students’ Affairs Secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury Anne, were present in the court on Tuesday. Earlier, April 29 was fixed for charge hearing in the three cases.
On December 24 last year, the police submitted the charge sheets against the accused leaders and activists of BNP.
On March 2 last year, Paltan Police officials filed two cases, while Shahjahanpur Police officials filed another case against the leaders and activists for vandalizing vehicles and creating panic among people when a procession of opposition BNP took out from their Naya Paltan central office and marched to Maghbazar of the city.
Pro-BNP lawyers, including advocates Sanaullah Miah, Masud Ahmed Talukder, Mohsin Mia, Khorshed Mia Alam, Khorshed Alam and Joynal Abedin Mesba, were present in the courtroom to move the cases.
