A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred the hearing on framing charge against 23 leaders and activists of BNP, including Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, to May 14 in a case filed for vandalism and arson.Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order yesterday following a time petition of the defence.
As accused Mirza Fakhrul Islam was not produced in the court defence council Joinal Abedin Mesba pleaded for time and the court granted it.
The First Information Report (FIR) of the case says that on March 2, 2013, there were vandalism and arson attack in Shahjahanpur area of the capital during the BNP alliance sponsored shutdown. Sub-Inspector Ashraf Ali of Shahjahanpur Police Station lodged the case against the accused.
Later, on March 20 of the year, Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Ruhul Amin Munshi submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against the 23 accused including Mirza Fakhrul, Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Amanullah Aman.
