Arson case: Hearing on charge framing against 41 BNP leaders on March 3

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday fixed March 3, 2016 for hearing on charge framing in a case filed against 41 BNP leaders and activists, including the party’s Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Shaikh fixed the
new date in response to the pleas seeking time on behalf of 17 BNP people, including Mirza Fakhrul, Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Amanullah Aman. Eleven leaders of the party, including Abdullah Al Noman and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy were present in the courtroom. On the other hand, Assistant Public Prosecutor Anisur Rahman opposed the time pleas.
Advocate Sanaullah Mia and other pro-BNP lawyers moved the time petitions. It was the 8th time, the hearing on charge framing in the case was deferred.
The case was filed in connection with alleged vandalism and arson attack in front of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College on March 2, 2013. On July 5, 2014, DB Inspector Dipak Kumar Das submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court.
