The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday deferred the hearing in a case against BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 24 others to December 29.
Magistrate SM Masud Zaman of the court passed the order granting a time
petition of the defence. As Mirza Fakhrul is abroad for his medical treatment, he could not appear in the court on Sunday. Earlier, on May 25, the court fixed September 4 for hearing on charge framing in the case. Kalabagan Police Station Sub-Inspector Masud Sikder filed the case on December 9, 2012, against 27 BNP leaders and activists, including Mirza Fakhrul, for their alleged involvement in vandalism, interrupting police when they were performing their duties, brick-bating pedestrians and conducting arson attack in Kalabagan Police Station area of the capital. Later, on October 22, 2014, Kalabagan Police Station SI Asaduzzaman and Investigation Officer of the case submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court against 25 persons, including Mirza Fakhrul.
