Court Correspondent :
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Monday deferred the hearing of 11 cases filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on various charges to November 6.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the court set the date yesterday at the makeshift court set up in the newly-built at Keraniganj Central Jail. Earlier, on July 17, the same court fixed September 2 to hear on accepting the charge sheets of the cases.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyers sought time for hearing in the cases saying the High Court Division of the Supreme Court stayed the proceedings of most of the

cases and she herself has been under treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The court granted the time plea and fixed the new date.
Of the cases, eight were filed with Darussalam Police Station over arson attack in 2015, two with Jatrabari Police Station on charge of making seditious comments about the freedom fighters and the number of martyrs in the Liberation War of 1971 and the other case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
Other accused in the cases include late MK Anwar, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Amanullah Aman, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Showkat Mahmud.
