Hearing adjourned as DIG Bazlur Rashid Corona positive

The hearing in the graft case filed against suspended DIG (Prisons) Bazlur Rashid could not be held on Thursday as the accused has been suffering from Covid-19.
Earlier, yesterday was fixed to record the depositions of the witnesses in the case over amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 31.4 million.
Judge Iqbal Hossain of the Fifth Special Judge
granted the time petition of the defence lawyer and fixed March 4 to record the depositions of the witnesses.
On October 22, last year, the court framed charges against Bazlur Rashid and set November 22 to start recording the depositions of the witnesses.
On September 1, Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayesh took the charge sheet filed of the case into cognizance and transferred the case to the Special Judge Court-5 for further proceedings.
Investigation Officer and ACC Deputy Director Md Nasir Uddin filed the charge sheet of the case on August 26, last year. He was accused of amassing total wealth worth Tk three crore 14 lakh 35 thousand 902 illegally under the ACC Act’s section 27(1).
