Health Ministry urged to conduct anti-dengue drive round the year

Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and central 14-party alliance Spokesman Mohammed Nasim urged the Health Ministry to continue its anti-dengue campaign round the year. He made the call while addressing a mosquito elimination campaign on the premises of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) central office here. As per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the 14-party alliance arranged the awareness programme.
Urging people to clean up their homesteads and surroundings so that mosquito cannot breed, Nasim said, “I am urging the Health Ministry, City Corporations and Local Government Ministry to conduct anti-dengue campaigns throughout the year.”
He said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to prevent Dengue…We must cooperate with her and follow the directives to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes for our wellbeing.”
He called upon AL leaders and activists to create awareness among people of Dengue fever and Aedes mosquito.
“This is not time for doing politics,” the AL leader said, adding that now all should work together for the interest of the country’s people. Chairman of Bangladesh Worker’s Party Rashed Khan Menon said that, “We must ensure that we do not leave any place for the Aedes mosquitoes to breed while going out to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha…We must prevent Dengue from spreading”.
JSD Chairman Hasanul Haque Inu said, “Our most important concern should be destroying the breeding places of Aedes and stop Dengue from spreading…We must work considering its negative impact over the nation.” Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, former Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Jatiya Party (JP) General Secretary Sheikh Shahidul Islam and General Secretary of AL Dhaka South City unit Shahe Alam Murad, among others, spoke.
