UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday upheld the trial court’s verdict that had awarded death sentence to a man and life-term jail to another for killing a schoolboy after abduction for ransom in Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.
A bench of Justice Bhabani Prasad Singh and Justice
Mostafa Jaman Islam passed the order following a petition filed by the convicts.
Earlier on December 30, 2010, a Tangail court sentenced Bakul to death and Selim to life term imprisonment in the murder case.
On March 23, 2003, the convicts kidnapped Mamun, a class III student of Trimohon village in the district and demanded Tk 3 lakh from his family members for his release. As his family failed to pay the money the kidnappers killed the boy.
Later, Mamun’s body was recovered from Bakul’s house.
