The High Court summoned the officer-in-charge of Chandraganj Police Station, Moktar Hossain and Dattapara union parishad chairman Ahsanul Kabir for whipping a day labourer during a local arbitration.
An HC bench of Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty passed the order following a petition
filed by a Supreme Court lawyer Taseb Hossain on Wednesday.
The court also asked them to appear before the court on July 3 to explain the incident of whipping.
Besides, the court asked the superintendent of Laxmipur police to provide security to the family of the victims and took legal action against those involved in the incident.
Earlier, the Supreme Court lawyer Taseb Hossain filed a writ petition before the court after placing a report of torturing a day labourer during village arbitration, published in different media.
