High Court (HC) on Tuesday stayed bail of three accused in a case filed for forgery over the design of 23 storey FR Tower in Dhaka’s Banani.
The court also asked the accused to surrender before the lower court concerned in seven days.
The accused are: FR Tower leaseholder Syed Md Hossain Imam Faruque, Rajuk’s former inspector Md Aurangzeb Siddique Nannu and its former Deputy Director (Estate) Md Shawkat Ali. A Dhaka court granted them bail in August and September in connection with the forgery case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The HC Bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam came up with the order after hearing on three separate bail petitions filed by the ACC challenging the lower court order.
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the ACC and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the State.
A devastating fire in the 23-storey building in the capital’s Banani left at least 25 people dead and 73 others injured in March.
Later, the ACC filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against the three accused on charge of forgery over the design of FR Tower and violating building code in constructing the high-rise.
