UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Monday ordered the authorities concerned to shut the shops of Mouchak Market terming its building risky.
An HC bench comprising Justice Qamrul Islam Siddique and Md Rajik Al Jalil passed the order upon hearing on a writ petition
filed by building owner Ashraf Kamal Pasha. The court asked the Housing and Public Works Secretary and Rajuk to carry out the order. The court said the shops will have to be kept closed until completion of renovation work as per the recommendations of BUET and getting clearance from the authorities concerned.
On May 7 2014, Rajuk served a notice on the Mouchak Market owner declaring the building risky and asked them to examine its capacity by Buet experts. As per the recommendations of BUET, Rajuk on May 2 asked the market authorities through a letter to renovate the building. Building owner Ashraf filed the writ petition challenging the Rajuk order.
