The High Court on Thursday deferred to June 20 the verdict of a writ over paying Tk 1 crore in compensation to the family of Rajib Hossain.
The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice MD Khairul Alam fixed the date.
After concluding a hearing on the rule on May 19, the court fixed Thursday to deliver the verdict.
Lawyer Ruhul Kuddus stood for the writ, lawyer Mohammad Rafiul Islam for Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation and deputy attorney general Motaher Hossain for the state.
Rajib lost his right arm after it got stuck between two buses at Bangla Motor on April 4 last year. He succumbed to his injuries at
Dhaka Medical College Hospital 11 days later.
The High Court on May 8 last year ordered the owners of ‘Sajan Paribahan’ and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation to pay Tk 5.0 million each (Tk 1 crore in total) to Rajib’s family.
But, the order was stayed by the Appellate Division on May 22. The apex court directed the High Court to form an independent committee to fix the compensation and find out who is responsible for the accident.
