Staff Reporter :Unidentified miscreants set on fire the village home of High Court Judge Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque at Sadar upazila in Feni in the early hours of Thursday. However, no causality was reported immediately. The incident took place hours after he ordered the government to stop publicising BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman’s statements in the media.Local sources said the back portion of the residence gutted in the fire when miscreants poured kerosene on the tin-shed house and torched it.When contacted, Superintendent of Police in Feni Reazul Haq told The New Nation over telephone yesterday evening that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident of arson. “In primary investigation, we have found that the miscreants set ablaze the house using some kind of inflammable substance, might be kerosene. The reason behind the arson might be linked to Wednesday’s HC order against Tarique Rahman,” the SP said.He also said that preparations have been taken to file a case with the concerned police station in this regard. Earlier on Wednesday, the HC imposed ban on airing or printing speeches and statements of BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman in any form in the media as long he is absconding. The directives came following a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Nasrin Siddique Lina with the High Court on Tuesday. Tarique is now absconding in the eyes of law. But the BNP leader often hits the headlines with controversial remarks on history of Bangladesh. In this backdrop, the petitioner sought HC orders directing the information secretary to prevent newspapers, electronic media [television and radio] and social media, including facebook, from publicising, broadcasting or reproducing speeches of Tarique.
