HC gets 10 new addl judges

Ten new additional judges have been appointed to the High Court division of the Supreme Court for two years.
The President made the appointments exercising his power under article 95 (1) of the Constitution, said a Law Ministry gazette notification.
The newly-appointed additional judges are: Former Chittagong Metropolitan District and Sessions Judge
SM Mojibur Rahman, Supreme Court Registrar Farid Ahmed Shibli, Gazipur District Judge Amir Hossain, Advocate Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Attorney General Rajik Al Jalil, Advocate Jyotirmoy Narayan Dev Chakrawarty, Deputy Attorney General Bhishma Dev Chakrawarty, Advocate M Iqbal Kabir Liton, Deputy Attorney General M Salim and Deputy Attorney General M Suhrawardy.
This is the first phase appointment of the judges to the High Court division under the second term of the Awami League-led alliance government. Earlier, it had appointed 56 judges to the High Court in phases since 2009.
The appointments will come into effect from the day of their taking the oath of office, the release added.
Meanwhile, Additional HC Registrar-2 Sabbir Foez told reporters that the Chief Justice will administer the oath to the newly-appointed additional judges on Thursday.
