HBCOP leaders call on UNHR official

A six-member delegation of Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad (HBCOP) has called on a high official of United Nations Human Rights (UNHR) Aida Maristras Nejade, a representative of the UN Assistant Secretary General of High Commissioner Ivan Simonovic, recently. The delegation urged the UN concerned authority to take effective steps to end violence on the minority communities in Bangladesh, said a release here on Saturday. They described the violence on the minority communities during the last 20 years in Bangladesh including heinous attacks on Buddhist community in Ramu, Ukhiya and Patiya of Chittagong on September 29, 2012.
The delegation included parishad presidents Julius Gomez, Ranabir Barua, general secretary was present.

Dr. Dejen Bhattacharia, members Brammadip Barua, Sumon Mitra and Prabir Mitra Barua. Later, they submitted two memorandums to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay.
