Furniture major HATIL Complex Ltd. wins HSBC- The Daily Star Climate Award 2013 in Green Operation Category. The honor has been awarded in a program held at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla on February 28.
Starting in 2010, HSBC-Daily Star Climate Award 2013 is the fourth consecutive initiative of HSBC and The Daily Star. The initiative seeks to recognize organizations and individuals actively working towards preserving environment and managing the risk of climate change with their business practice, socially-driven initiatives or valuable knowledge sharing practices.
Out of four categories HATIL’s nomination has been awarded in Green Operation Category. This category seeks to recognize commercial organizations that adopt and embrace eco-friendly and environmentally responsible process, technologies or mechanism in their business practice.  
Over the years HATIL has taken a number of initiatives to make its production and operation process greener and environmentally sustainable. The use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified wood from well-managed forests, use and promotion of minimalist design concept resulting in less consumption of wood, recycling of saw dusts and other wood particles to produce energy and other wood products etc were the major credentials of HATIL that the juries evaluated positively.
Selim H Rahman, Chairman and Managing Director of HATIL Complex Ltd received the Award from Chief Guest of the ceremony Dr Atiur Rahman, Governor, Bangladesh Bank. Andrew Tilke, CEO, HSBC Bangladesh and Mahfuz Anam, Editor, The Daily Star were also present on this occasion.
