Justice Hasan Foez Siddique took oath as the 23rd Chief Justice of the country on Friday afternoon.
President Md Abdul Hamid administered the oath at 4.00 pm in the Darbar Hall of the Bangabhaban in presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique succeeds Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain who went on retirement on December 30 in 2021 after completing his tenure.

 Huq, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, outgoing Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, judges of the Appellate Division- Justice Md Nuruzzaman and Justice Obaidul Hassan, Chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force, and Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, among others, also attended the ceremony.
Earlier on Thursday, the President appointed Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, the new Chief Justice of the country.
A gazette notification was issued on Thursday to this effect.
