Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent journalist and Editor of the Daily Desh Rupantor Amit Habib.
In a message of condolence, the minister said the death of Amit, who worked at different mass media including the daily Khabor, the daily Somokal and Kaler Kantha, is an irreparable loss to the arena of journalism.
Hasan, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Director-Public Relations of the ministry Mir Akram Uddin Ahmed
placed wreaths on his coffin on Friday morning on behalf of the minister and took part in the Namaz-e-Janaza at the daily Desh Rupantar office .
Amit Habib died on Thursday night at a hospital in the city at the age of 59.
