BNP on Tuesday alleged that Awami League leader Hasan Mahmud attacked its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s motorcade in Chittagong at the behest of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Speaking at a human-chain programme, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also said Mahmud is making comments over the incidents like a ‘professional liar’ to hush up his involvement.
“All that Hasan Mahmud is telling over the incident that happened in his election area is a blatant lie. He won’t be able to mislead people with his false remarks over it,” he said.
The BNP leader further said, “Awami League and its leaders are professional liars. We would like to say it was a planned attack. This is the fact that Hasan Mahmud made the attack instructed by the Prime Minister.
Leaders and activists of BNP’s Dhaka City unit’s different wings arranged the programme in front of the Jatiya Press Club, demanding the release of Jubo Dal joint general secretary Sayeed Hasan Mintoo.
On Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul and some other party senior leaders were injured as local Awami League supporters allegedly attacked his motorcade at Isakhali in Rangunia upazila, Chittagong on their way to landslides-hit Rangamati.
