Hartal marks amid stray incidents

The second day of the fresh nationwide hartal, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, alongside its ongoing countrywide indefinite transport blockade passed off amid sporadic incidents of violence on Monday.
Meanwhile, the combine has once again extended the 72-hour hartal by 48 hours until 6am Friday.
Police arrested 50 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat from different places of the capital, Khulna and Manikganj.
In Comilla, miscreants torched at least three vehicles and vandalised 20-25 others in Ramghat and Race Course areas of the city in the name of a victory
procession following the Bangladesh’s win in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Witnesses said a group of 25-30 miscreants, carrying sticks, brought out a procession at Ramghat in the name of celebrating the victory of Bangladesh Cricket Team over England in the World Cup.
They suddenly started damaging vehicles and hurling petrol bombs at those.
Two auto-rickshaws were torched and 20-25 others damaged during the mayhem.
At the same time, another group of miscreants set a private car afire through hurling a petrol bomb at it in Race Course area.
