Staff Reporter :Local BNP called a daylong hartal in eight districts under Rangpur division for Wednesday protesting the arrest of BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.Asadul Habib Dulu, Organizing Secretary of Rangpur division unit BNP, announced the hartal at the party office in Rangpur district town on Tuesday. The eight districts are: Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh.Earlier, Detectives on Tuesday afternoon picked up BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhru Islam Alamgir after his overnight stay inside the Jatiya Press Club due to ‘security concern’.Detectives tried their best to bring Fakhrul out of his car but failed amid scuffles and finally they drove him away with his car. Rangpur Metropolitan BNP President Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the matter the reporters.
