Gazipur Sadar Correspondent :
‘Education is the backbone of the nation’ and all the education entrepreneurs who work tirelessly to build the backbone of the nation are going through extreme hardships due to the closure of institutions due to the current Corona disaster. Kindergarten (KG) schools in Sadar upazila have been hit by the global corona epidemic. As the schools are closed sine die and the income is stopped, the institutions are not able to pay the house rent as well as the salaries and allowances of the teachers and staff. The teachers and staff of these schools, which were built with a small budget and investment, have become jobless and are living a very inhuman life.
Going to the ground, it can be seen that the kindergartens and pre-cadet schools in the neighborhoods and rural areas of Gazipur Sadar Upazila are locked. The educational institutions do not have the previous tidy environment. Many institutions have left the classrooms as they could not pay the rent and have left the office room with furniture, tables and furniture. The directors and teachers of these kindergarten schools are spending their days. With the closure of private schools at the end of the year, most parents are also worried about the education and examinations of Komalmati students. According to several directors, an average of 250 to 300 students were studying in each of these private educational institutions.
Zahidul Islam, President of Gazipur Kejiskul Association’s Sadar branch and founder of Taltoli Modern School and College, said the government had temporarily closed kindergarten schools along with government and private educational institutions from March 16 due to the spread of corona epidemic. Since then, the educational institutions are still closed. There are about 128 private educational institutions under the Gazipur Kejiskul Association Sadar. So that the number of teachers and staff is about 15 hundred. Private educational institutions are not able to collect salaries from students as they have been closed for several months. As a result, the salaries of the teachers and staff have not been paid. The rent of many rental institutions has also remained. Again, some people have paid the rent of the institution by taking a loan. Many have had to leave school buildings. In this situation, some institutions have continued to pay less for their teachers and employees. Note: 95% of kindergarten schools in the country are run in rented houses.
AH Aziz Mia Rubel, founder of Rahim Uddin Memorial School in Sadar Upazila, said, “My school has been closed since the announcement of public holiday. Although teachers and staff were able to pay their salaries for the first month after the closure, it was not possible to collect the salaries of students during the school months. I could not even pay the teachers’ salaries. At present, many teachers and employees of my organization are engaged in other professions. “Since no government directive has been issued yet to open the school, I am in a financial crisis,” Rubel said. Parbokina is also uncertain about running the organization.
