Narayanganj Correspondent :The family members of victims of the seven murder of Narayanganj gave their deposition before the high-powered probe body on Saturday. The deposition started around 11 AM at the office of Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner (DC).Earlier, the government formed the body to probe into the alleged involvement of members of law enforcing agencies including RAB in the sensational Narayanganj murder case in line with the High Court (HC) directive.Shahidul Islam, father-in-law of Nazrul Islam said that the evidence found in Nur Hossain’s house prove his involvement in the gruesome murder.”The bloodstained shirt and mobile phone set used by (murdered) Chandan Sarkar have been recovered from Nur Hossain’s house. Bricks, bags and ropes found with the recovered bodies prove who are involved (in the sensational incident),” Shahid Islam said at the time of deposition.He was talking to reporters at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office after giving deposition before the probe body on Satruday.About the dismissal of three RAB officials for their alleged involvement in the incident, he said members of a law enforcement agency cannot conduct fair and credible investigation against any member of other agency.Shahidul expressed disappointment to the seven-member enquiry committee over what he said slow progress in the investigation.He urged the authorities concerned to hand over the three sacked Rab officials to the police so that fair trial could be held.Abdus Salam, brother of the deceased ward councilor Nazrul Islam, told reporters that at the time of deposition he mentioned the rivalry between his brother and Nur Hossain.”We discussed everything in details with the probe body,” he said. Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad who was the commanding officer (CO) of Rab-11 in Narayanganj at the time of seven murder, is son-in-law of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.Expressing concern over the security of his life, Shahidul Islam said, “Criminals or influential persons with blessings of political parties might kill me any time.” Replying to a query after giving deposition, Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam said that they were worried over their security since the incident. The enquiry committee gave her assurance of ensuring necessary security for them soon. Dr Susmita Sarkar, daughter of victim Chandan Sarkar, told the journalists, “Let the mystery behind the incident be unveiled.”The probe body chief Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, also the Additional Secretary to the Public Administration Ministry, said, ” we have recorded the deposition of the victim families and the progress report over the investigation will be submitted to the High Court as per its direction on May 15.”Meanwhile, the probe body announced to hold a public hearing on the victims’ abductions and their subsequent murders on May 12 and 15.The hearing will be held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Law Mizanur Rahman, a member of the seven-member probe body told the reporters. He said people have been requested to give their depositions during the public hearing.
