A hailstorm lashed three unions of Kachua upazila early Friday, damaging around 3,000 houses and business establishments, and crops on 200 hectares of land. Upazila nirbahi officer of Kachua Kazi Mahbubur Rashid said the hailstorm swept Moghia, Dhopakhali and Gokalia unions of the upazila in the early hours. The storm damaged crops on 200 hectares of land, including boro paddy, and roofs of around 3,000 structures, he said. “Holes developed in the tin-shed roofs of the houses and business establishments.” Water will seep into the structures through the holes if rain comes down, said affected people. Meanwhile, the victims sought government’s assistance in this regard. — Bagerhat, Apr 1 (UNB)
