The former Principal of the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, Dean of the Medicine faculty, Chattogram University and a prominent Gynecologist of the country,Professor Dr. Nurjahan Bhuiyan passed away yesterday after a long illness at CSCR Hospital,Chattogram.
She left behind her husband former Rotary Governor and renowned industrialist Aminuzzaman Bhuiyan, son Asik Bhuiyan and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.
For last one year she was sick and got her treatment in Singapore and Chattogram respectively. She got her MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 1962 and MRCOG from Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, London in 1967 and MRCOG from the same college in 1982.
She was the author of some commendable books on Obstetrics and published several research articles in recognised journal s at home and abroad.
During her illustrious career she served at Chattogram Medical College, Dhaka Medical College, Sir Salimullah Medical College and at former P.G. Hospital in different capacities as Professor, Head of the Department and Professor respectively.
