Grocery shop gutted in Tarash

A man’s grocery store was gutted in a fire at Tarash in Sirajganj on Wednesday night. The incident took place at a shop near Bara Bridge in Kundail village of Saguna union of the upazila. This has caused an estimated loss of about Tk 6 lakh to that small trader.
The victim was Sultan Mahmud, son of late Osman Ali of the village. He said that on the occasion of Eid, he bought the goods of the shop, decorated them till late at night, closed the shop and went home. After 30 minutes he found out that his shop was on fire. He immediately shouted and brought people and tried to put out the fire in the shop. Unable to control the fire, the goods in the shop were burnt to ashes. The shop had various items including fridge, TV, sound boo, gas stove.
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Chairman of Saguna Union Parishad and a resident of the same village, said Sultan Mahmud had suffered a lot. He visited the incident place. He is a poor man. This happened after he bought a lot of goods in the shop ahead of Eid and went home to decorate the shop. I will co-operate with him as much as possible from my union parishad and arrange for co-operation from the upazila administration.
Tarash Upazila Assistant Commissioner Land Laila Jannatul Ferdous said, “We will stand by the affected families from the upazila administration.”
