Police in Rajshahi said that a grenade-like object has been found on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus.
They say the recovery was made near the venue of a rally on the Jail Killings Day.
Matihar Police OC Humayun Kabir said that the university authorities informed them about the matter.
“We suspect it is a grenade. The RAB’s bomb experts’ team have been informed,” he said.
RU Proctor Tarikul Islam told this news agency that one of the gardeners spotted it on the grounds near the university’s central mosque.
The object was spotted near the venue of a rally orgainsed by the Bangladesh Chhatra League’s (BCL) RU unit observing the Jail Killings Day. BCL is the student affiliate of the ruling Awami League.
