Green University will take on Fareast International University in final of the Walton 1st Inter-University Football Tournament (Faraz Challenge Cup) at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur today. The match starts at 4.00 pm.
Before today’s gala final, a pre-match conference was held at the conference room of the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Senior Vice-President of Sonali Otit Club Hasanuzzaman Khan Bablu, Member Secretary of the Tournament Committee Sheikh Md Aslam, Member of Sonali Otit Club Md Yousuf, Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Captain of Green University Bashiruddin, Captain of Fareast International University Mainul Abedin were present at the conference, among others.
Sheikh Md Aslam said, ” We have earned Taka 17 lakh and we spent Taka eight lakh. We have selected 120 players from the different universities. We shall form a team from them.”
Bashiruddin said, ” Our target is to be the champions of the competition. We want to snatch victory after showing a better brand of soccer. Our preparation is good. We shall face our opponents by playing a competitive football. We have no injury problem. Our opponents are good side.”
Mainul Abedin said, ” Our target is to clinch the title. We shall be the champions of the competition by giving our best. Our preparation is satisfactory. There is a injury in our side. Our opponents are really good.”
It may be mentioned that the champions will be awarded Taka two lakh, while the runners-up will get Taka one lakh.
