Charge framed against six HuT activists

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Tuesday framed charges against six members of the banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir, including its Chief Coordinator Mohiuddin Ahmed in a case filed
under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Judge Mohammad Qamrul Hossain Molla of the court framed the charges after hearing and fixed October 24 to record the depositions of the witnesses. .
On April 19 of 2010, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station officials arrested Mohiuddin Ahmed from a house of Green Road in the capital. Other accused persons are: Saidur Rahman alias Rajib, Kazi Morshedul Haque alias Plabon, MA Yusuf, Tanvir Ahmed and Tawhidul Alam Chanchal.
Of the accused, Tawhidul Alam Chanchal is on the run, while the remaining accused persons are on bail.
Police submitted the charge sheet of the case against the accused to the CMM Court of Dhaka on February 9 of 2013.
Earlier, on October 22, 2009, the then Awami League government decided to ban the extremist organization HuT for their involvement in terrorist activities.
