Green chili price goes high

The prices of key essentials commodities including green chilli and tomato have maintained their high level in the city’s kitchen markets during the coronavirus pandemic.
The price of vegetables, green chilli has increased due to affect of flood in some parts of the country while other commodities’ price remained unchanged at the end of Tuesday.
Prices of green chilli has jumped by Tk 50 to 70 per kg and tommato prices also have jumped by Tk 30 to 40 per kg on Tuesday while difference vegetables prices has jumped by Tk 5 to 7 per kg on as the supply of green vegetables have decreased after floods in 10 districts damaged crops, traders said.
Tommato prices also have jumped by Tk 30 to 40 per kg on Tuesday.
However, brinjal was selling at Tk 45 to 60 per kg, teasel gourd at Tk 40, eddo was sold at Tk 40 to 50 per kg, clocacia stem (kochu loti) at Tk 40 to 60 per kg, clocacia flower at Tk 50 to 60 per kg, Potato price rose to Tk 28 to 30 (granola) per kg, while local (red coloured) variety price rose to Tk 35 to 40 per kg Tk 2 to 5 hike in a week. The tomato was selling at Tk 100 to 110, french at Tk 40 to 50, carrot at Tk 70, bitter gourd at Tk 40 to , cucumber at Tk 40 to 45, spone gourd at Tk 40 to 50, papaya at Tk 30, parble at Tk 40, snake gourd at Tk 40 to 50, okra at Tk 50, balsam apple at Tk70, raddish at Tk 40,
During visit to different kitchen markets this correspondent found that prices of green chili are climbed as of most essential commodities maintained their previous high level.
However, the government agency concerned conducted mobile courts in parts of the city’s markets in regular basis.
Coarse variety of rice was selling at Tk 46-Tk 50 per kilogram while medium quality rice at Tk 52-55, and finer quality rice at Tk 60-Tk 70 a kg on Monday.
Rice prices increased by 10-31 per cent in last few days following panic buying, according to Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). The current rice price hit two-year high, said TCB.
Potato prices also has remained static at Tk 25-Tk 35 a kg depending on varieties on Monday. TCB recorded a 30-33 per cent hike in potato prices in last five days.
