Greek companies urged to invest in Bangladesh

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has invited Greek companies to invest in Bangladesh considering Dhaka’s lucrative business packages made for attracting more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
The foreign minister made the call while addressing a business talk titled ‘Bangladesh: Greece, Business Opportunities’ hosted by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), in collaboration with Bangladesh Embassy in Athens on Tuesday, according to a message received on Wednesday.
He also invited the Greek entrepreneurs to visit Bangladesh and explore the opportunities that are being offered by Dhaka.
Momen put his last leg in Greece as a part of his four nations tour in Europe after Germany, France and Italy, focusing on economic diplomacy.
During the talk, the foreign minister sought investment, either direct or in the form of joint ventures from Greece with focus in the areas of tourism, shipping, hospitality industry, renewable energy and waste management.
He observed that Greek investors can expect to make profits with the investment packages offered by Bangladesh, and at the same time to create employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workforce that lead to have a win-win scenario.
The foreign minister also suggested that Greek importers may explore the options of importing state of art quality Bangladesh products which are so far not known to Greek consumers.
ACCI President Constantine Michalos and Bangladesh Ambassador to Greece Md Jashim Uddin also spoke at the seminar.
