Grameen Telecom stands by doctors, health workers

Along with the government, Grameen Telecom is extending its helping hand towards doctors and healthcare workers during the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Grameen Fabrics and Fashion Ltd (GFFL), financed by Grameen Telecom, is manufacturing personal protective equipment (gowns) for the safety of doctors, nurses and healthcare workers, said a press release.
It has manufactured over 25,000 safety gowns as of Thursday, of which the majority has gone to different hospitals and healthcare institutions of the country, it said. Meanwhile, imported cloth and seam sealing tape has

reached the GFFL factory for the production of an additional 20,000 PPE for doctors, nurses and health personnel, especially those engaged at Intensive Care Units (ICU).
The press release said the manufacturing of such gowns will start in a few days.
In addition, preparations are being taken to prepare and distribute sets that include imported N95 masks, hand gloves, protective goggles, that will be distributed to specific hospitals, it said.
Through financial support from Grameen Telecom, GFFL is set to manufacture 50,000 PPE pieces, of which 25,000 have already been produced and distributed.
It has distributed more than 2,000 PPE (gowns) to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital & Nursing College, Director General, Nursing & Midwifery Directorate, Centre for Women and Children Health and Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, Gazipur.
Besides, Grameen Telecom continues its distribution of daily food supplies on a weekly basis to identified poor communities in various regions of the country.
