BSS, Dhaka :
The Ministry of Information signed a Government Performance Management Systems (GPMS) agreement with all its departments and organizations.
“It will ensure greater transparency and accountability to the concerned organizations and bring dynamism to their work”, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said this on Thursday at the signing ceremony.
The agreement was signed by Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed with all heads of departments under the Information Ministry at the conference room of the ministry in presence of the information minister.
Earlier the Information Secretary, on behalf of the Information Ministry, had signed the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) with the Cabinet Secretary. The GPMS is part of the same process.
Inu said on the occasion “it would initiate a new era in the administration of the country. It will bring greater efficiency to all departments and make evaluation of performance easier”.
He said it is through the Information Ministry that people saw the whole picture. “Everybody has to take the onus of projecting the work of all ministries through their work,” Inu said.
“It is the job of the ministry to explain the challenges of climate change as well as other developments including those in information technology,” he said. “Besides, the task of coping with militancy and terrorism under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had to be undertaken, too” he added.
Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed in his speech said that the new system had been put in place to make government departmental work result-oriented instead of process-oriented. “It will ensure good governance and bring efficiency to the administrative system,” he said. Additional Secretary A S M Mahbubul Alam initiated the programme by welcoming the guests and introducing the topic.
The departmental chiefs of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Bangladesh Television(BTV), Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), Bangladesh Film Archive, Bangladesh Film Censor Board, Bangladesh Film and Television Institute, Press Information Department (PID), Mass Communication Department and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) were present as well as the secretary of the Press Council.
