Grameenphone joined hands with Save the Children to undertake a pilot project with Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) to strengthen school monitoring system through digitization of the existing monitoring process.
Save the Children has created an android-enable school monitoring application and browser-based school inspection data analysis dashboard, in collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation section of DPE. The objective of the system is not only to digitize the existing monitoring process but to also make it more efficient and cost effective.
Upazila education officers will be equipped with Tabs and Internet connection to report online. After successful completion of the pilot initiative, the system will be handed over to DPE for scaling up and nationwide implementation.
A two-day training for the Upazilla Education Officers (UEO) and Assistant Upazilla Education Officers (AUEO) of the pilot area was arranged on March 24 and 25, 2015 by Save the Children at UCEP, Mirpur, to introduce the system to them.
Marcus Adaktusson, Director Communications of Grameenphone, handed over 40 Tablets equipped with free Internet connectivity for the pilot project among the participants.
Speaking on the occasion Marcus Adaktusson said “Grameenphone has a strong focus on education and trying to use technology to develop the sector under its “Internet for All” ambition. I hope that digitizing the school monitoring system will make primary education in Bangladesh more effective and efficient.” Partnership with this project is a corporate responsibility initiative of Grameenphone.
The pilot project will take place in selected Upazillas of Gazipur(Kaliakoir and Kapashia), Manikganj (Shauria and Ghior) and Meherpur (Meherpur Sadar) districts.
