Govt works relentlessly for development of sports

State Minster for Finance and Planning Ministry MA Mannan, MP, said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina relentlessly working day and night so that the “Bengali Nation” can prosper all sphere in life.
The comment came out during the inauguration ceremony of daylong first-ever invitational women’s cycling competition held on Saturday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.
Hailing the participating cyclists in the competition the State Minister said sports loving Prime Minister working hard for the development of sports sector and she makes no discrimination between girls and boys in this regards.
At that time, officials of the Women’s Sports Association demanded to the State Minister to build value-dram for the cyclists and the State Minister also supported their demand and assured to carry their message to the Finance Minister to implement their demand as early as possible.
In the competition, Eti Khondakar of Dinajpur district emerged champion in individual event with two gold medals while Protima Roy and Mina Khatun of Dinajpur jointly finished runners-up with one gold and one silver medal.
Dinajpur district also maintained their supremacy in team event by winning five gold, four silver and two bronze medals while Panchagarh district finished runners-up with one gold, one silver and one bronze medals. After the competition, Bangladesh Cycling Federation president and Olympic Association vice president M Mizanur Rahman Manu distributed the prizes.
It can be mentioned that 55 cyclists from 10 districts across the country took part in the meet.
