‘Govt working to improve people’s livelihood’

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister M Shahab Uddin said the present government is working relentlessly to improve people’ lives and livelihoods by alleviating poverty.”The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working round the clock for the welfare of the country and its people… various development projects have been undertaken by the government to alleviate poverty and improve the living standard of people, he said.
The minister made the remarks on Friday while distributing winter cloths, corrugated iron sheets, and grant cheques for constructing houses among the distressed, helpless and cold-hit people affected by natural disasters at Juri upazila auditorium under Moulvibazar district.The minister also distributed livestock among small ethnic people living on plain lands, under the integrated livestock development projects, at the programme.
Terming the government as pro-people government, he said the government is working for the development of the poor and distressed people, he said, adding “the poor and general people are living a better life during the regime of the present government.”
Chaired by Upazila Nirbahi officer Soniya Sultana, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by Upazila Chairman heroic freedom fighter MA Moyeed Faruque, Upazila Awami League President freedom fighter Badrul Hossen, Upazila Vice Chairman Rinku Ranjan Das, Women vice president Ranjita Swarma, Assistant Commissioner Ratan Kumar Adhikari and District Livestock Officer Abdus Samad.A total of 37 ethnic people received livestock, under integrated livestock development project . Besides 105 bundles of corrugated iron sheet and 2000 pieces of blankets were distributed among poor people. A total of Taka 3.15 lakh was distributed by the minister.
