Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council Justice Muhammad Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed said present Government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina relentlessly working for the independence of newspapers and to preserved the social rights of the journalists.
 He said Press council is the judicial institution of the journalists. He also disclosed that PC is working with united efforts to recognize the activities of the press council in national and international levels.
He further said newspaper is the mirror of the society, journalists are heart of the society and readers are lives of newspaper. He disclosed it while exchanging views with the leaders of the Independent Newspaper Readers association at press council office in Dhaka on November 27 last.
Among others, central president of INRA Journalist SM Jamaluddin, General Secretary Abu Bakkar Siddique, Publicity Secretary Shamal Nath, Secretary of PC Shyamal Chandra Karmakar were present on the occasion.
 Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed greeted all present on the occasion and exchanged good wishes to them, a INRA sources said.
