The government has waived stamp duty amounting to Taka 571.39 crore for the under construction of 1320 megawatts thermal (MWt) power plant at Payra in Patuakhali.
Stamp duty on the registration of all documents signed between the project implementing agency the Bangladesh-China Power Company Limited (BCPCL) and land owners has been waived, said the Internal Resources Division (IRD) in a circular recently.
The government has taken the decision exercising powers conferred upon it by section nine of the stamp law 1899.
The coal-fired power plant will be built in Payra on 397 hectares of land at a cost of Taka 12,284 crore.
