BSS, Dhaka :
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rowshan Ershad urged the government to take an effective measure to combat the drug abuse across the country to save the young generation.
“A large number of youths, being frustrated for not getting any job, become drug addicts.
And the government should take preventive measures against the use of contraband items,” she said this on Thursday while speaking in the House on a point of order.
Rowshan called upon the mass people to create awareness against the negative side of contraband items including yaba and phensidyl regarded as potential threats to building skilled and efficient manpower.
She alleged that some non-government organizations along with a section of corrupt members of law enforcing agencies are involved in drug peddling in the capital and elsewhere of the country.
Referring to Oishi’s incident, the opposition leader said she (Oishi) killed her parents due to drug addiction.
“Not only Oishi’s family, many families are facing such problems as the incidents of drug abuse are on rise now a days,” she added.
